Mr. DIRKSEN. Gentlemen of the committee, we will resume.

We have before us this morning the estimates for flood control in the Department of Agriculture.

The justifications are found at page 105 of volume 2, and find this on page 239 of the committee print.

you will Including the supplemental appropriation there was available for expenditure in fiscal 1948, $3,000,000. There is before us a budget estimate of $9,000,000 for 1949, or an increase of $6,000,000.

1 Although an increased appropriation of $6,000,000 is requested for this item in 1949, it is estimated that there will be an increase of only $3,228,242 in total funds available due to availability of prior year balances of $2,771,758 in fiscal year 1948.

I believe it might well, since the table on page 109 of the justification shows the various projects, together with other data showing the completion period, estimated obligations for 1948 and 1949, an accumulative cost figure, that table can also be included.
