CONVERTED INSURANCE IN FORCE Converted policies were first issued in May, 1919. The following table shows the number of policies and amount of insurance in force at the end of each calendar year since December 31, 1920, as shown by the annual statements of the United States Government life insurance fund which are issued at the end of calendar years: CONVERTED INSURANCE ISSUED BY FISCAL YEARS The following table shows by fiscal years the total number and amount of converted insurance policies issued since May, 1919: ANALYSIS OF PLANS OF UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT CONVERTED INSURANCE POLICIES Converted insurance is issued in six policy forms: Ordinary life, 20-payment life, 30-payment life, 20-year endowment, 30-year endowment, and endowment at age 62. The following table shows the number and amount and the percentage of converted insurance policies issued to date, classified by plan: This selection of the various plans is based almost entirely on the discretion and preference of the individual policyholders, as the business is conducted largely by mail without the advantages of personal interview. |
