CHANGES TO U. S. NAVY REGULATIONS, 1948

CHANGE NO. 12

The attached pages contain a compilation of all changes to U. S. Navy Regulations, 1948, which have been approved by the Secretary of the Navy since the issuance of Change No. 11. These changes shall be entered upon receipt.

Addressees receiving either an excess or an insufficient number of copies of this change shall inform the responsible supply activity.

Make the following changes in INK:

Page V-Chapter 12 under Section 3, delete "1289" and substitute therefor "1290".

TEXT:

Page 3 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, second column-In line two, insert a semicolon after "Congress)"; in line four, delete "and"; in line five, delete ".)" and add "; and §104 of Act of 7 September 1962, Public Law 87-651.)".

Page 65, Art. 0503-Delete complete second sentence, "At the same time, or... to serve upon his staff."

Page 95, Art. 0755-Delete "Hydrographic" and substitute "Oceanographic".

Art. 0642, page 77-To remove incorrect statutory reference.

Art. 0755, page 94-To substitute the word "Oceanographic" throughout for the word "Hydrographic" pursuant to Public Law 87-533, effective 10 July 1962.

Arts. 0928A and 0928B, pages 120c and 120d-New articles added to include the duties of the electronic warfare officer.

Art. 0983, page 141-To add new paragraph 5 to reflect current policy regarding the assignment of subordinate Supply Corps officers to accountable duty afloat. Present paragraphs 5 and 6 renumbered 6 and 7, respectively.

Art. 1290, page 180a-New article added to provide for adequate sanctions for the types of misconduct encountered in service examinations.

Art. 1353, page 193-Article revised to specify succession of command in naval hospitals. Art. 1377, page 197-Article revised to provide for succession to officer in charge status by staff corps officers.

Art. 1408, page 203-Article revised to avoid conflict with provisions of Art. 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice as amended by Public Law 87-648, effective 1 February 1963, stating the right to demand trial by court-martial in lieu of nonjudicial punishment for persons in the naval service.

Arts. 1930 and 1931, page 245-Articles revised to remove implication of pecuniary responsibility of commanding officers and any conflict with Art. 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice amended by Public Law 87-648.
