SIR: I herewith transmit a list of books upon the shelves of the American Circulating Library of Manila, and respectfully recommend that the same be printed.

This work was undertaken some months ago at the personal suggestion of the Governor-General and has been prosecuted in the hope of filling a want long felt among the patrons of the Library and the English reading public of the Philippines.

The form of classification adopted is modeled upon the American Library Association Catalog.

Lists of accretions to the Library can be published subsequently. Very respectfully,
