To the Executive Officer of the Institution Addressed:

A form of the Annual Report of Examination made pursuant to
the provisions of General Laws, Chapter 167, Section 2, has been
amended for all state-chartered banks and credit unions having
$20 million or more in deposits and having main offices located
within the Boston Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is
considered expedient to include in such examination a report on
geographical distribution of deposits of the institutions and
therefore a new page 13a has been included in the Annual Report
of Examination for all such institutions. A copy of page 13a
is enclosed herewith. The information requested on page 13a
should be compiled by you and furnished to the Banking Depart-
ment on or before August 31, 1976, on computer readable magnetic
tape (See page 13a for prescribed format). This information will
be required as of June 30, within regard to the date of the re-
maining parts of the examination.

This report is confidential and shall not be exhibited to any person, organization, or agency except as provided in General Laws, Chapter 167.

Disclosure Directive

To obtain information with respect to the mortgage lending practices of banks and credit unions having main offices within the Boston Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the U.S. Department of Commerce, and also having deposits of $20 million or over, such institutions will file the mortgage information set forth on the attached sheets.

Data must be supplied in summary form (1) by postal zip code areas for all cities and towns within the Boston SMSA (see Supplementary Sheet #1 and #la), (2) by census tracts for the city of Boston and Lynn (see Supplementary Sheet #2), (3) a total for all other areas within Massachusetts, (4) a total for all out of state, and (5) a total for those accounts which you were not able to assign to any of the above geographic codes.

All data for individual census tracts or zip codes is to be submitted on computer-readable magnetic tape in a prescribed format which we will forward to your data processing personnel. Totals for your institution should be computed for each form from the tape and submitted in hard copy (see Supplementary Sheets #3, #4, #5, and #6).

This information will describe your operations as of the close of business on June 30, 1976. The information will be filed at this Office and be on file at all your banking offices available to the public, no later than August 31, 1976.

You will note that I am asking on Forms A,B,C,D, and E the same information requested in 1975, updated for 1976. On Forms G, H, I, J, and K, I am asking for similiar information regarding your mortgage activity from July 11, 1975 to June 30, 1976.
