The subcommittee met, pursuant to notice, at 9:05 a.m. in room 334, Cannon House Office Building, Hon. Ray Roberts (chairman) presiding. Mr. ROBERTS. The subcommittee will be in order. We are meeting this morning to consider a number of bills which have as their central purpose the recognition of the Women's Air Force Service Pilots who served as Federal civilian employees during World War II by providing that such service, while in a civilian capacity, shall be considered active duty for the purpose of all lawswithin certain limits-administered by the Veterans Administration. Without objection, I will insert a list of the several bills pending before the subcommittee, a table showing the number of potential WASP cases, together with the departmental reports received from the Department of Defense, the Labor Department, and the Veterans Administration, and this morning, the Air Force.
