There was no change in the exhibitions for the month, the loan exhibition of cartoons dealing with the American Revolution, from the collection of Mr. R. T. Haines Halsey, and the memorial exhibit of works by the late James D. Smillie being both continued at the LENOX branch as well as display of plates from "Neue Monogramme," "Die Zierform" and "Israels und seine Kunst" at ASTOR.

FREDERICK THE GREAT'S REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRUSSIAN ARMY OFFICER.

The following letter from Frederick the Great is printed from his holograph manuscript now in the New York Public Library; the letter to which it is a copy is a contemporary copy. The two were presented to the Astor Library in 1884 by Mrs. John Jacob Astor.
