SEC. 2. The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.

SEC. 3. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by conventions in the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress.

At the time of going to press (November 1, 1933) this amendment had been ratified by 33 States.

Hereafter the Dental Corps of the Army shall consist of commissioned officers of the same grade and proportionally distributed among such grades as are now or may be hereafter provided by law for the Medical Corps, who shall have the rank, of officers of corresponding grades in the Medical Corps, including the right to retirement as in the case of other officers, Oct. 6, 1917 (40 Stat. 397); U.S.O. 10:121.

This section, based on sec. 202 (10), act of June 7, 1924 (43 Stat. 620), as amended; U.S.C. 38: 484, was repealed by 1059k, post. The subject matter is covered by 1090a, post.

82. Chief of Ordnance; duties.

The last clause of the fourth paragraph of this section, reading:

92. Chaplains; number.

The last note to the original text of this section, beginning "By 149, 163, post ", should be omitted.

The second paragraph of this section, based on R.S. 1126 as amended by the act of Feb. 27, 1877 (19 Stat. 242), was expressly repealed by sec. 1, act of Mar. 3, 1933 (47 Stat. 1428).

Chief of Staff; duties.-That the Chief of Staff, under the direction of the President or of the Secretary of War, under the direction of the President, shall have supervision of all troops of the line and of the Adjutant General's, Inspector General's, Judge Advocate's, Quartermaster's, Subsistence, Medical, Pay, and Ordnance Departments, the Corps of Engineers, and the Signal Corps, and shall perform such other military duties not otherwise assigned by law as may be assigned to him by the President. The act of March 2, 1907 (34 Stat. 1158), provided that the Adjutant General's Department should be "subject to the supervision of the Chief of Staff in all matters pertaining to the command, discipline, or administration of the existing military establishment." The "Judge Advocate's" Department is now known as the "Judge Advocate General's Department." (See 6, ante.) The Quartermaster's, Subsistence, and Pay Departments were merged in the Quartermaster Corps by section 3, act of August 24, 1912 (37 Stat. 591).
