delivered them to Israel, who pursuing them to Great Zidon, and to Mizrephothmaim, eastward to the valley of Mizpeth, and routed them wholly. 9. So Joshua did as the Eternal commanded him. 10.Then he returned and took Hazor, and smote its king; it was formerly the head of all those kingdoms. 11. He smote all that were in it, and burnt it. 12. All those kings, with their cities, he smote, as Moses the Eternal's servant had said. 13. But they burned none of the fortified cities that were on hills, except Hazor. 14. They smote all the men of them, and took the cattle and all the spoil of them for a prey. 15. As the Eternal commanded Moses his servant, so did he command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Eternal commanded Moses.

16. So Joshua took all that land, the hills and the vallies, all the south hill country, and all the land of Goshen and the plain, the mountain and the valley of Israel (where Jacob dwelt), 17. From mount Halak, which extends to Seir, even unto Balgad, in the valley of Lebanon, under mount Hermon, and he smote all their kings. 18. Having wared a long time, (even seven years,) with all those kings, 19. And taken all their cities, except Gibeon, whose inhabitants the Hivites, made peace with Israel: 20. For the Eternal abandoned the rest to the hardness of their hearts to fight against Israel, and to be utterly destroyed, having no favour shewn them, as the Eternal commanded Moses. 21. At that time. Joshua cut off the Anakims, with their cities, from the mountains, from Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and all the mountains of Judah and of Israel; 22. None of them remained in the land of the Israelites, except in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod. 23. So Joshua took all the land which he attacked, according to all that the Eternal said to Moses, and gave it for an inheritance to Israel, according to the divisions of their tribes: so the land rested from war.

Even all the territories of the Philistines, and of the Geshurites, not yet occupied; 3. From the river Sihor, (a branch of the Nile), conterminate with Egypt, to the north border of Ekron, which was taken from the Canaanites, by the Philistine potentates; their principalities, of Gaza, Ashdod, Eshkalon, the Gitites, Ekron, and also the Avites. 4. And the Giblites land, and all Lebanon eastward, from BaalGad under mount Hermon, to the entrance to Hamath; 6. And all the hill country, from Lebanon to the waters of Misrephoth, and all the Sidonian nations, will I, (the Eternal) drive out before the Israelites; therefore divide thou it previously by lot.

And all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who ruled over Ashtaroth and Edrei, being the only relict of the giants; these did Moses smite and cast out. 13. But the Israelites expelled not the Geshurites, and the Maachathites (of the mountains), for they continued to dwell with the Israelites. 14.To Levi's tribe, only Moses gave no inheritance, the Eternal the God of Israel's offerings and sacrifices being their inheritance, as he said to them.

15.Moses gave Reuben's tribe an inheritance sufficient for all their families, 16.From the city Aroer on the river Arnon, and all the borders of Medebah; 17.
