27. The Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites, were the Kohathites. 28. Their number was eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary. 29. They pitch on the south side of the tabernacle. 30. And their chief was Elizaphan, Uzziel's son.

31. Their charge shall be the ark, the table, the candlestick, the altars, the laver and its cover, all the utensils of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the vail of the most holy place inclosing the ark, with all its appurtenances (all the other yails being carried by the Gershonites).

32. And Eleazar, Aaron's son, shall superintend the chief of the Levites, and them that keep the charge of the sanctuary (as second priest).

Moses did as the Eternal commanded him. 43. And the number of the first-born that were males was twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.

44. The Eternal again said to Moses, 45. The Levites, and their cattle, shall be mine, instead of these and the firstlings. 46. And for each of the two hundred and seventy-three first-born which are to be redeemed, being the surplus above the num ber of the Levites, 47. Thou shalt take five shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary, being twenty gerahs; 48. And give the price of the redemption of the odd number to Aaron and sons.

49. So Moses collected that money by lot; 50. A thousand three hundred and sixty-five sacred shekels, 51. And gave it to Aaron and his sons, as the Eternal commanded him.

AGAIN the Eternal said to Moses, 2. Command the Israelites to remove from the camp every one that is a leper, or that hath an issue, or is defiled by the dead, 3. Whether male or female, that they defile not the camps in the midst whereof I dwell. 4. And the Israelites did so.
