THE Eternal said also to Moses, Tell the priests, Aaron's sons, that none of them shall defile themselves for the dead, that are not nearly related to them, by touching or burying them, and thus be interrupted in performing their office; 2. But for their parents, or children, or brothers, 3. Or sisters by both parents, that are virgins, they may defile themselves by funeral offices.

4. But the high priest shall not defile himself, to profane himself, he being the chief man among his

people. 5. The priests shall not make their heads bald, nor shave the corners of their beards, nor make any cutting in their flesh, (as others do, in their mourning): 6. For they shall be holy to their God, and shall not by these things profane his name, because they offer the fire-offerings of the Eternal, and the sacred loaves of bread, for a memorial of the twelve tribes, to their God; therefore they shall be holy. 7. They shall not marry a profane woman, or a prostitute, or a divorced one; because they are consecrated to God.

16. The Eternal said also to Moses, 17. Say to Aaron, If any of thy posterity, in any age, hath any blemish, he shall not execute the priest's office, or approach to God to offer sacrifices, or the sacred bread, the memorial of the people. 18. If he be blind, or lame, or in any thing defective, or superfluous, or deformed, 19. Or has a foot or hand maimed, 20. Or be crooked, or a dwarf, or with a

fault in his eye, or the scurvy, or a rupture, or not perfect in his sex; 21, 22. Such may eat the consecrated, most sacred bread of the loaves, and the sacred bread of the peace-offerings: 23. But he shall not go into the holy place, before the vail, nor ap proach the altar, that he profane not the sanctuary, which the Eternal hath consecrated.
