SCHOOL REPORT. An additional teacher made possible two distinct divisions besides the kindergarter, in the cultural course, viz.: a low primary course and an intermediate course. *Nine were promoted to low primary and two died. Five were transferred to low primary, and five were taken home by parents. SCHEDULE OF CLASSES. 9 A. M. to 12 M. Kindergarten.—Songs, games, dances, table work. Industrial Classes.--Sewing, machine and hand, crocheting, knitting, rug and basket weaving. 3:30 P. M. to 4:30 P. M. Classes in Singing.-Rhythm, folk and esthetic dancing. A class in milking, composed of eight girls and conducted both morning and evening, was supervised by one of the teachers. Milking, weighing of milk, separating, and care of the separator were carefully looked after. Physical training has assumed the form of recreation rather than a regular course. Lack of equipment has confined us almost entirely to outdoor sports. The girls have become fairly good players in volley ball and indoor baseball. We use the hour between supper and call to dormitory for this training. Aside from the above, there is yet another phase of industrial training our girls get. In the dormitory, dining room, kitchen, sewing room and laundry, they learn such work as the making of beds, cleaning house, serving table, cooking, washing lishes, scrubbing, sewing, patching, and washing and ironing. Practically all of the general work of the Institution is done by the girls, under supervision. |
