these CFR volumes contain the DAR numbering system which differs substantially from standard CFR numbering. (For a detailed explanation of the DAR numbering system, consult the explanatory note which begins on page vii of each of the three volumes comprising 32 CFR Parts 1-39, November 1, 1975 edition.)

PAGINATION

Each of the three volumes is individually paginated. The page number is centered at the bottom of each page.

The following information should be of use to those users who are familiar with DAR replacement page technique for updating the regulations. The upper left corner (for even pages) and the upper right corner (for odd pages) contains pagination information for each section of the DAR. These page identifiers begin numbering anew with each section. A typical reference might be "3: 178." The number to the left of the colon refers to the DAR section. In this case the "3" refers to DAR section III. The number to the right of the colon refers to the page of that DAR section. Thus, the reference 3: 178 indicates that the user has the 178th page of DAR section III. Amendments to the July 1976 edition are reflected by a DPC or DAC reference at the top of the page and a vertical line in the side margin of the page.

TABLE OF DAR SECTIONS AND PARTS

Each volume has a table of contents listing all the DAR sections and parts contained in the three volumes. This table of DAR Sections and Parts begins on page ix of each volume.

Each of the three volumes also has a table of contents listing the DAR sections (or Appendices) contained in that particular volume and the page where each section (or Appendix) begins. This table appears on page 3 of each volume.

APPENDICES

Users of the DAR will note that former 32 CFR Part 30 was broken down into Appendices A through Q. Appendices F, G, J, L, N, O, P, and Q had no previous equivalent in earlier CFR editions. Consistent with its policies regarding publication of tabulated blank forms, the Office of the Federal Register is not reproducing the forms published in Appendix F-Illustrations of Standard and Department of Defense Forms. This edition of Appendix F will not contain the text of any form. Instead, Appendix F will consist to a list of forms. The Office of the Federal Register is also omitting Appendices N and O. Appendix N is a list of activity address numbers and Appendix O reprints the Cost Accounting Standards Board regulations which are codified in 4 CFR Chapter III.

INDEX

An index to the DAR is located at the end of Title 32, Parts 1-39, Volume III, of the 1979 edition. DPCs 76-1 through 76-14 and DACS 76-15 through 76-19 have not been indexed. Entries are by subject matter and references are to DAR section and paragraph.

For this volume Donna Rickett was Chief Editor. The Code of Federal Regulations publication program is under the direction of Martha B. Girard, assisted by Robert E. Jordan.

NOTE: Since the DAR have been incorporated directly into the Code of Federal Regulations, the volumes themselves are the sole permanent source of research material. Subscribers may wish to retain these volumes for their future

use.
