Nothing in this Act shall 3 prohibit such person from filing a declaration with respect to 4 income with the Administrator in the event such person 5 suffers a reduction in income which would entitle him to in6 creased pension or disability or indemnity compensation.

Mr. TEAGUE of Texas introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs

A BILL

To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize increased benefits for veterans requiring regularly scheduled hemodialysis.

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That subsection 314 (s) of title 38, United States Code, is 4 amended (a) by inserting "or" immediately following 5 clause (2), and adding the following new clause: “(3) his 6 service-connected disability or disabilities are such that he is 7 receiving regularly scheduled hemodialysis which is medically 8 indicated,", and (b) by adding the following sentence at the 9 end of the mentioned subsection (s): "The monthly compen10 sation provided by this subsection for veterans within the

1 purview of clause (3) shall also be payable for a period of

2 two years after the discontinuance of hemodialysis.".

SEC. 2. (a) Subsection 521 (e) of title 38, United 4 States Code, is amended (1) by inserting immediately fol5 lowing "permanently housebound" a comma and the follow6 ing new clause: "or (3) has disability or disabilities for 7 which he is receiving regularly scheduled hemodialysis which 8 is medically indicated,", and (2) by adding the following 9 sentence at the end of the mentioned subsection (e): "The 10 increased rate of pension provided by this subsection for 11 veterans within the purview of clause (3) shall also be pay12 able for a period of two years after the discontinuance of 13 hemodialysis."

14 (b) Section 110 of Public Law 90-77 is amended (1) 15 by inserting "or" immediately following clause (2), and 16 adding the following new clause:

"(3) has disability or disabilities for which he is receiving regularly scheduled hemodialysis which is medically indicated,",

20 and (2) by adding the following sentence at the end of 21 the mentioned section 110: "The rate of pension provided 22 by this section for veterans within the purview of clause (3) 23 shall also be payable for a period of two years after the 24 discontinuance of hemodialysis."

SEC. 3. Section 617 of title 38, United States Code, is 2 amended by inserting "(a)" before the words "The Ad3 ministrator" and adding a new subsection (b) as follows: 4 "(b) The Administrator may furnish hemodialysis 5 equipment, if medically indicated, to any veteran who is 6 receiving (1) compensation under subsection 314 (s) (or 7 the comparable rate provided pursuant to section 334) of 8 this title, (2) the increased rate of pension provided by 9 subsection 521 (e) of this title, or (3) the rate of pension 10 provided by section 110 of Public Law 90-77."

SEC. 4. The amendments made by this Act shall take 12 effect on the first day of the second calendar month which 13 begins after the date of enactment of this Act.

To amend title 38 of the United States Code to modify the reporting requirement relating to pensions for veterans and to liberalize the oath requirement for hospitalization of veterans. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That section 506 (a) (2) of title 38, United States Code, is 4 amended by striking out the comma after "child" and insert5 ing in lieu thereof "or a person who has attained seventy-two 6 years of age and has been paid pension thereunder for two 7 calendar years,”.

8 SEC. 2. Section 622 of title 38, United States Code, is 9 amended by inserting "(a)" immediately before the first 10 sentence and by adding at the end thereof the following new 11 subsection:
