A BILL

To amend title 38 of the United States Code to increase the base on which dependency and indemnity compensation for widows is computed.

1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That, effective on the first day of the second calendar month 4 which begins after the date of enactment of this Act, sub5 section (a) of section 411 of title 38, United States Code, 6 is amended by striking out "$120" and inserting in lieu 7 thereof "$130".

A BILL

To amend section 411 of title 38, United States Code, to provide additional dependency and indemnity compensation payments to widows with one or more children.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That section 411 of title 38, United States Code, is amended 4 by striking subsections (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) and 5 inserting in lieu thereof the following new subsections: 6 "(b) If there is a widow with one or more children 7 below the age of eighteen of a deceased veteran, the de

8 pendency and indemnity compensation paid monthly to the 9 widow shall be increased by $25 for each such child.

"(c) The Administrator shall increase the amount pay

1 able to the next higher dollar if the amount determined under

2 subsection (a) involves a fraction of a dollar."

A BILL

To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide increased disability compensation rates; to liberalize income limitations; to exclude certain payments in the computation of income for determining eligibility for pension; to increase amount of spouse's income which may be excluded; to restore entitlement to benefits on termination of a widow's remarriage; to authorize the furnishing of outpatient medical services to World War I veterans; to relieve certain persons from filing the annual income questionnaire; to provide for automatic cost-of-living increases; and for other purposes.

(1) by striking out "$23" in subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof "$33";

(2) by striking out "$43" in subsection (b) and inserting in lieu thereof "$66";

(3) by striking out "$65" in subsection (c) and inserting in lieu thereof "$99";

(4) by striking out "$89" in subsection (d) and inserting in lieu thereof "$132";

(5) by striking out "$122" in subsection (e) and inserting in lieu thereof "$165";

(6) by striking out "$147" in subsection (f) and inserting in lieu thereof "$198";

(7) by striking out "$174" in subsection (g) and inserting in lieu thereof "$231";

(b) The Administrator of Veterans' Affairs may adjust 22 administratively, consistent with the increases authorized 23 by this section, the rates of disability compensation payable 24 to persons within the purview of section 10 of Public Law
