R. 3066 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES JANUARY 13, 1969 Mr. DORN (by request) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs A BILL To amend section 411 of title 38, United States Code, to provide additional dependency and indemnity compensation payments to widows with one or more children. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That section 411 of title 38, United States Code, is amended 4 by striking subsections (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) and 5 inserting in lieu thereof the following new subsections: 6 "(b) If there is a widow with one or more children 7 below the age of eighteen of a deceased veteran, the de 8 pendency and indemnity compensation paid monthly to the 9 widow shall be increased by $25 for each such child. 10 "(c) The Administrator shall increase the amount pay 2 1 able to the next higher dollar if the amount determined 2 under subsection (a) involves a fraction of a dollar." 918T CONGRESS 18T SESSION H. R. 3077 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES JANUARY 13, 1969 Mr. DORN (by request) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs A BILL To amend title 38 of the United States Code to provide that amounts inherited from bank accounts jointly or separately owned shall not count as income for death or disability pension or for dependency and indemnity compensation. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That (a) section 503 of title 38, United States Code, is 4 amended by adding the following to the end thereof: "(14) amounts inherited by the surviving spouse from bank accounts jointly or separately owned by the 5 6 8 (b) Subsection (g) (1) of section 415 of title 38, 2 1 United States Code, is amended by adding the following to 2 the end thereof: 3 4 5 6 "(M) amounts inherited by the surviving spouse from bank accounts jointly or separately owned by the dependent parents of the veteran.". (c) This Act shall take effect on the first day of the 7 second calendar month in which enacted. |
