THE text of the present Edition of Shakspere's Works is mainly that of Delius. Wherever a variant reading adopted, some good and recognised Shaksperian Critic has been followed. In no case is a new rendering of the text proposed; nor has it been thought necessary to distract the reader's attention by notes or comments. The Glossary, with which is incorporated an index of names, subjects, and first lines (of the Songs and Sonnets), is mainly an abridgment of the Index to Shakspere's Works by Miss Evangeline O'Connor CONTENTS.
