OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY UNAVOIDABLE ABSENCE OF THE SECRETARY OF LABOR Mr. McMILLAN. I may state for the record that this morning we had anticipated having Secretary Perkins of the Labor Department appear before us in connection with the appropriations for the Department of Labor, for the next fiscal year. However, I have been advised that Miss Perkins is ill and unable to be present. We regret Miss Perkins' illness, of course, and look forward to her visit, as we do from year to year, and the very able presentation she makes of her department's activities. Mr. SAUNDERS. The Secretary of Labor, as soon as she is able, will appear before the committee and present any facts or information regarding the work of her department and the estimates for the 1937 Budget that the committee may wish to develop. Mr. SAUNDERS. All right, sir; we shall start on that. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONNEL ENGAGED UPON DETERMINATION OF WAGES OF PERSONS EMPLOYED ON PUBLIC BUILDING CONSTRUCTION Mr. McMILLAN. Before going into the details of the different items, I note that there is some new language suggested in the bill, and I will ask you to give us a statement regarding this new language, and the necessity for it.
