STATEMENT OF REAL ESTATE OWNED AND/OR LEASED BY THE UNITED STATES MARITIME COMMISSION ON PACIFIC COAST FROM RECORDS MAINTAINED IN DISTRICT OFFICE at San FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

1. USMC Warehouse 42, 35 North Santa Fe Avenue, Richmond, California.— 260,000 square feet covered space utilized as follows: 75,000 square feet active Maintenance and Repair and Operations material; 45,000 square feet official Maritime records, USMC, Division of Finance and General Accounting records; 140,000 square feet surplus material, all reported to War Assets Administration; plus 50,000 square feet of open storage. All Government-owned Real Property. 2. Richmond Yard 3, Richmond, California.-147.58 acres dry land; 43.54 acres under water; 191.12 acres, all Government owned. Complete shipyard in ready status for National Defense emergency. Partially used at present for scrapping operations by Kaiser Company, Inc.

3. Bethlehem-Alameda Shipyard, Alameda, California.-Approximately 152 acres, all Government owned. In use by Commission for new construction of P2 passenger vessels.

4. Vancouver Shipyard, Vancouver, Washington-Tracts 4, 5, 6, and 7, 135.967 acres leased from W. Foster Hidden; tracts 15, 16, 17, and 18, 8.641 acres unplotted tidelands, State. Total 144.608 acres. Also 18.169 acres under Lease, Port of Vancouver, Wash. Tracts 11, 12, 13, 21, and 19A, 98.574. Complete shipyard now in lay-up to be utilized under National Emergency Act.

5. Moore Dry Dock Company, West Yard, Oakland, California.-33,087 square feet, building Government owned; approximately 15,000 square feet on leased property from Western Pacific Railroad Company. Administration Building being used for administration purposes, Surplus Property Operations. Building occupied also by West Coast Division of Finance personnel and files, and by Inventory Section, Division of Operations. To be withdrawn from declaration of Moore West Yard: to be redeclared surplus on or before May 1, 1948.

6. 1000 Geary Street, San Francisco, California. Four (4) story building, floor space of approximately 24,000 square feet. Vacant and being declared to Public Buildings Administration of War Assets Administration, whichever has jurisdiction. All Government owned.

7. Maritime Training School, Alameda, California.-32 acres usable, plus the rights to an estimated 97 acres tideland under water. Now in use as Maritime Training School. Government owned.

8. Cadet School, San Mateo, California.-29 acres. lease to San Mateo Junior College. Government owned. 9. Consolidated Steel Corporation, Wilmington, California.-105.86 across (belonging to Harbor Board), 25 acres turned back to Harbor Board, 80.86 acres left to be returned to Harbor Board, 3.31 acres (Malt Avenue). Now being liquidated and restored; to be returned to Harbor Board.

10. 65 Sutter Street, San Francisco, California.-6,505 square feet office space, used for operational purposes for Maintenance and Repair Division; 3,600 square feet basement space, nonusable except for storage. Average rental $850.00 per month ($1.009 per square foot).

11. Mills Building, 220 Bush Street, San Francisco, California.-12,376 square feet under lease as of September 1, 1947. Used for administrative and operational purposes for ship operational program, Finance and Accounting Division, etc. Rental $2,165.80 per month.

12. Pier 60 extended, San Francisco, California.-Used to tie up and berth both operational and inactive ships interim before either being rechartered or before going into Reserve Fleet. Rental $1.00 per year.

13. 5700 Third Street, San Francisco, California.-51,450 square feet outside storage. Used for storage of heavy equipment for ship operations; to be released November 1, 1947. Rental $175.00 per month.

14. Dexter Horton Building, Seattle, Washington.—4,077_ square feet. Office space used by Maintenance and Repair, Operations and Division of Finance. Rental $679.47 per month.

15. Fox Cabrillo Theatre Building, San Pedro, California.-1,922 square feet as of September 1, 1947 (USMC giving up 2 rooms as of September 30, as of October 1, will be 1,298 square feet.) Office space used by Maintenance and Repair, Operations, Finance. Rental $190.27 per month.
