The Envalids' Year - Book. BY SIR JAMES COLQUHOUN, Bart. (OF LUSS). BIBLIOTHER BODLEIAN LONDON: HATCHARDS, PICCADILLY. 1880. 138. f. 208 PREFACE. BEING somewhat of an invalid, and so often unable to frequent-to my sorrow and loss-'the assembly of the saints,' where, in the days of my health and strength, I ever rejoiced to go, I have striven to make use of my talents, of leisure, and means of research for the benefit of those who, like myself, are often unable to frequent the means of grace. And these pages are the result. The beef-tea and mutton-broth of the invalid are simple fare, but nourishing and sustaining; may these pages, simple and plain as they are, afford spiritual nourishment, and awaken some comforting thoughts in the minds of those weak and weary ones whom their merciful Lord so often overshadows with His sweet presence of love in their exile from their more robust brethren and sisters. |
