Abstract: This report contains enlistment information according to geographic distribution, educational attainment, economic background, and racial composition. For new enlistments, geographic distribution is measured in two ways: by state of residence at the time of entry, and according to residence in urban or rural areas. Recruit and population data are indicated for 5 groups of states, running from the 10 most populous to the 10 least populous; information is given on each group's percentage of the total according to the total U.S. population for ages 17-22 and enlistments from this age group. Requirement: The Secretary of Defense shall submit a biennial report to the House and Senate Committees on Armed Services regarding the operation of the special pay program for health professionals. The report shall be on biennial basis and shall include a review of the program for the preceding years. Abstract: This report describes the results of a review of the special pays program for health professionals. Special pays of various amounts are authorized in order to attract and retain sufficient numbers of health professionals to accomplish the mission of DOD. The biennial review addresses the concepts. principles and amounts of special pays authorized for each health professional and the effectiveness of the program. To achieve the detail necessary for the evaluation, a special pays data system has been created, consisting of semiannual magnetic tapes containing data on each health professional with respect to special pay. Abstract: This report is a listing of names of persons filing reports for the fiscal year with a salary rate in the Department of Defense equal to or greater than the minimum salary rate for positions in grade GS-13 or employment by a prime contractor at a salary level $15,000. The listings are arranged alphabetically by defense contractor and by military department and defense agency within that alphabetical arrangement. The reporting categories are: 1) retired military officer-Maj/Lt. Cmdr or above, 2) former military officer-Maj/Lt. Cmdr or above, 3) former civilian employee whose salary was equal to or above minimum GS-13 salary level, and 4) former employee of or consultant to defense contractor awarded a negotiated contract of $10 million or more and who during the last fiscal year was employed by DOD at a salary level equal or above minimum GS-13 salary. Copies of the reports submitted by the present or former officers or employees are also attached, grouped by department or agency affiliation and arranged alphabetically by last name of person filing. Abstract: This report details military and civilian defense manpower requirements for the fiscal year. The language used throughout to describe and explain requirements is the Defense Planning and Programming Categories (DPPC): Strategic Forces, Tactical and Mobility Forces, Auxiliary Activities, Support Activities, and Individuals. The report provides a summary of Defense manpower requirements, and highlights the Defense Policy upon which the requirements are based. It details manpower requirements for each functional category across all military services and describes the manpower programs of each service and their accomplishments in achieving improved manpower utilization. It provides a preview of manpower matters to be presented before the Armed Services Committees. The various appendices present special analyses on subjects such as Cost of Manpower, Women in the Military, Manpower and Forces by location, and technical information on the data structure. A Unit Annex is included which describes the planned allocation of manpower to specific units within the report. It is transmitted separately for security reasons, and is therefore not included with this report.
