PREPARATION OF BOOKS EMPLOYMENT

Mr. BENJAMIN. How many permanent funded employees are currently employed in the preparation of books?

Mr. HOWARD. For total of Processing Services there are around 1,800 positions, but 1,109 for preparation of books.

Mr. BENJAMIN. You are showing 1,109 permanent positions and you describe there are about 1,800 involved.

Mr. HOWARD. I am in error, the total figure for Processing Services is 1,627. Some of these people are on other funds for example, CDS and SFC. We also have some that are paid from gift funds. The 1,109 positions here are the permanent positions on LC basic and we are asking for one increase.

Mr. BENJAMIN. For the record would you please describe the assignment of these employees among the functions enumerated on page 21 of the justifications?

Mr. HOWARD. Yes, sir.
