Exemption is not claimed for male teachers unless they are teaching scientific subjects in the high schools such as chemistry, physics, and higher mathematics.

Of the 510,000 it is estimated by the Office of Education that 96,000 are freshmen and 50,000 are under 18 years of age.

50,000 of these are estimated to be under 18 years of age. An undeterminable number of the remainder will be deferred after October 1, 1943. As many as 150,000 may already have been physically rejected for service in the armed forces.
