III. The Lord Jefus, in his human nature

I Heb. 2. 17. Wherefore in all things, it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren; that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God; to make reconciliation for the fins of the people. Heb. 4. 15. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without fin.

V. k Rom. 5. 19. For as by one man's difobedience many were made finners, fo by the obedience of one, fhall many be made righteous. Heb. 9 14, 16. How much more shall the blood of Chrift, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himfelf without fpot to God, purge your confcience from dead works to ferve the living God? Rom. 3. 25, 26. Whom God hath fet forth to be a propitiati on through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for

chafed not only reconciliation, but an everlasting inheritance in the kingdom of heaven, for all those whom the Father hath given unto him'.

VI. Although the work of redemption was not actually wrought by Chrift till after his incarnation, yet the virtue, efficacy, and benefits thereof, were communicated unto the elect, in all ages fucceffively from the beginning of the world, in and by thofe promises, types and facrifices, wherein he was revealed and fignified to be the feed of the woman, which should bruise the serpent's head, and the lamb flain from the beginning of the world, being yefterday and to-day the fame and for ever".

the remiffion of fins that are paft, through the forbearance of God;--To declare, I fay at this time his righteoufnefs: that he might be juft, and the juftifier of him that believeth in Jefus. Heb. 10. 14. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever, them that are fanctified. See alfo Eph. 5. 2.

1Eph. I. II, 14. In whom alfo we have obtained an inheritance, being predeftinated according to the purpofe of him who worketh all things after the counfel of his own will. Which is the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchafed poffeffion, unto the praife of his glory. John 17. 2. As thou haft given him power over all flesh; that he fhould give eternal life to as many as thou

haft given him. See alfo Heb. 9. 12, 15.

VI. m Gal. 4. 4, 5. But when the fulness of the time was come, God fent forth his Son made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of fons. Gen. 3. 15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy feed and her feed: it fhail bruife thy head, and thou fhalt bruife his heel. Rev. 13. 8. And all that dwell upon the earth fhall worfhip him, whofe names are not written in the book of life of the lamb flain from the foundation of the world. Heb. 13. 8. Jefus Chrift the fame yefterday, and to-day, and for

ever.
