June 10 is the final issue of the paper, which was bought out by the Dispatch. A daily paper styled the Virginia Times was established in 1823 by Samuel Saunders. In 1846 the Times & Compiler published a semi-weekly edition known as the Richmond Times. The Library files show a gap from 1853 to 1865. In 1867 the The Times sold out to Cowardin & Ellyson, editors of the Dispatch. The paper on file from 1888 to 1903 is a different paper, using the same name. In 1903 the Times and Dispatch consolidated and became the Times-Dispatch, with Joseph Bryan editor and proprietor.
