Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by
the WORD of God, so that things which are seen were not made of
things which do appear.-xi. 3.

BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the 27th day of September, in the forty-fourth year of the independence of the United States of America, A. D. 1819, DOROTHY RIPLEY, of the said district, hath deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof she claims as authoress, in the words following, to wit:

"The Bank of Faith and Works United. By Dorothy Ripley, 'Faith Citizen of this world, but going above to the New Jerusalem. is the substance of things hoped for, the ece of things not seen.' Heb. xi. In conformity to the act of the congress of the United States, entitled "An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned;" and also an act entitled, "An Act supplementary to an act entitled, An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps. charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copie during the times therein mentioned,' and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historic and other prints."

CANDID READERS OF ALL NATIONS,

TO you I present those pages, written in simplicity and godly sincerity. For want of time, and cash, they have laid silent six or seven years, although prepared for the press so long since by me: for no one has perused them; neither have I had opportunity, or liberty, till now, to cast a glance over them, for so many years.

In those pages are many interesting things, both moral and divine, which may stir up the pure gift of Faith in the reader, who desires to improve, as the Bee that gathers honey from many different flowers, both bitter and sweet.

My only motive for printing those travels, is to disseminate the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and do good among the indigent, where my lot is cast by the Providence of God; as He teaches His children Mercy in all their ways.

"Without Faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."
