HJ 2051 •A59 1970/71 A NOTE ON THE FORMAT OF THE BUDGET Data relating to the budget for 1971 are published in a group of five documents. The Budget of the United States Government, 1971, is presented in a compact volume containing the Budget Message of the President and summary information that presents to the Congress the President's budgetary recommendations. This volume contains the facts and figures that most users of the budget would normally need or desire. The Budget of the United States Government, 1971—Appendix contains the text of appropriation estimates proposed for the consideration of Congress together with specific supporting information on the various appropriations and funds, as well as supplementary schedules required by law. The Budget of the United States Government, 1971-The District of Columbia contains the estimates for the municipal government of the District of Columbia. A pamphlet type of publication, The Budget in Brief, 1971, is available for those who wish a more concise and less technical presentation than any of the foregoing four official volumes. A second pamphlet type of publication, Special Analyses, Budget of the United States, 1971, contains 18 special analyses that are designed to highlight specified program areas or provide other significant presentations of Federal budget data.
