"In executing the trust of editing the two oldest volumes of the Colony Records of Massachusetts, which have been preserved more than two centuries in the archives of this Commonwealth, it has been an earnest endeavor that the printed copies should be, as nearly as practicable, reproductions of the ancient volumes; and also that their contents, of great historical value, should appear in a form easily accessible to all who may desire to examine them, and of such endurance as to be beyond, it is hoped, the probability of prospective loss."-Editor.

NEW ENGLISH REPORTS.

The "ENGLISH COMMON LAW REPORTS" having increased to such an extent as to be a serious item of expenditure to the younger members of the Profession, the publishers purpose discontinuing this indispensable part of a Law Library with the current Reporters, and issue in its place, from the time of cessation, the series recently commenced in England under the superintendence of the "COUNCIL OF LAW REPORTING."

The work will be issued in two series, Law and EQUITY, and be published in monthly parts.

The Common Law Series will be paged and indexed so as to bind into separate yearly volumes, for the Queen's Bench, Common Bench, and Exchequer, respectively, and one volume for the Courts of Probate, Divorce, Matrimonial Cases, and Admiralty.

The Reports of the Court of Criminal Appeal will be paged and indexed separately, so as to bind up into a volume when of sufficient bulk.

The Equity Series will be paged and indexed so as to bind into one volume each year, for the Court of Appeal. The decisions of the Master of the Rolls and the three Vice-Chancellors (being Judges of co-ordinate authority) will be paged together, and separated into as many volumes in the year as may be found convenient, and each volume separately indexed. It is hoped they will not exceed two volumes a year.

Selections will be made from The Appellate Series of such cases as may be carried to the House of Lords and the Privy Council from the above Courts, and included in an Appendix of Additional Cases. Either Series can be subscribed for separately, and can be sent by mail as published, or retained and issued in bound volumes as soon as any of them are completed.

Both Series will probably be comprised in about seven volumes a year.

This new arrangement will enable subscribers to secure these invaluable Reports at an early day, with the advantage of commencing with the first number and continuing at a moderate annual cost. Further particulars, with terms, in future advertisements.
