NOTE: All of the above substances (except cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine, nitro urea, pentolite, and tetryl) are exempt from specification packaging and magazine requirements when shipped as drugs, chemicals, medicines, or cosmetics in securely closed bottles of a quantity not exceeding 4 oz. in one outside package. Inside bottles must be securely cushioned to prevent breakage. Magazine requirements apply if total gross weight of shipment exceeds 2,000 pounds.

Blasting caps are small tubes,

usually made of an alloy
of either copper or alumi-
num, or of molded plastic,
closed at one end and
loaded with a charge of
initiating or priming explo-
sives, Class A-Type 4, ei-
ther with or without other
suitable explosives. The
total weight of explosives
per unit shall not exceed
150 grains. Blasting caps
which have been provided
with a means of firing by an
electric current, and sealed,
are known as electric blast-
ing caps.
Do not stow blasting caps
with any high explosive.
Do not handle blasting caps
at the same time as high
explosives are being loaded.
