B. 66)..... .Page 164 AN ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Scott county to build and equip a court house at a maximum cost of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) by a direct tax and spread out the cost thereof over a period of five years so that a tax shall be levied and collected each year sufficient to pay one-fifth of the cost and interest thereon, and to borrow not exceeding said amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) and issue loan warrants therefor in denominations of one-fifth of the principal sum, one maturing each year until the whole amount is paid, under certain conditions herein provided, and to pay interest on said amounts so borrowed at a rate of not exceeding six per centum per annum.

Page 168 AN ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Simpson county, Mississippi, in its discretion, to provide for the payment of salaries of certain teachers who have hitherto taught in the public schools of said Simpson county, and also the assignees of any teachers for the amounts assigned by such teachers and, also to provide for the payment of any contractors or their assigns for the transportation of pupils to and from any such schools where any such contractors or their assigns have not been paid, and also to pay to certain members of the county school board for any amounts due them for services rendered in that capacity where said parties have not been paid, and also to pay any member of the teachers examining board for any services along that line and for which he has not been paid, and also to pay any balance due the county superintendent of public education for any balance due him for salary as such and for which he has not been paid, and also to pay to any separate school district their proportionate part of the poll tax collected by the sheriff in said district and to pay the Magee Separate School District for the per capita attendance therein of children living outside of said district, but the same to be paid, only upon monthly reports made in the manner required by law, for the different months and session for which payments have not been made but are claimed, and all the payments herein provided for to be in the discretion of the board of supervisors, and in no case to be in excess of the amounts herein mentioned and any and all of said items and the aggregate thereof to be included in the budget as provided for by chapter 225 of the laws of 1922, and any and all items herein mentioned are subject to petition against by the tax payers as therein provided, and the amounts, if any, so collected to be a special school fund, to be paid out to the parites herein named in the same manner and by the same o ficers as such claims are paid under the general law on the subject. and any balance left to the credit of said special school fund after the payment of the claims herein named, may be transferred to the general county school fund by the board of supervisors of said Simpson county under the provisions of this act.

Page 173 AN ACT to validate the issuance of pay certificates heretofore issued by Allen Caughman, county superintendent of education of Smith county, Mississippi, and the issuance of warrants by E. C. Hord, chancery clerk of Smith county, and the payment of the same by the county treasurer and legal depository of Smith county, Mississippi, with reference to the Taylorsville Consolidated School of Smith county, Mississippi, which said pay certificate, warrants and payments thereon have been heretofore issued to teachers and tallyho drivers of the said Taylorsville Consolidated School in said county for the scholastic term beginning in September, 1923, and running through the months of September, October, November and December, and also to direct that during the remainder of the scholastic term of the Taylorsville Consoli dated School that Allen Caughman, county superintendent of education of said county, is directed to issue pay certificates for the amounts due and to become due under the original contract which the school authorities had made with the teachers and the tallyho drivers for the balance of the present scholastic term as originally provided for.
