it is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to pay to J. H. Carraway a sum not to exceed thirty dollars ($30.00) for damages sustained to his horse, buggy and property by falling through a defective bridge on a public highway in said county in December, 1923.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 437.

HOUSE BILL No. 645.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Amite county, Mississippi, to pay Lewis Kelly two hundred fifteen and 17/100 dollars ($215.17) for damage and wrecking one automobile, caused by the negligent leaving of an opening across a creek, caused by the falling in of a bridge across said creek on the Prentiss Highway, in district number three of Amite county.

Amite county may pay Lewis Kelly for wreck of automobile.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Amite county are hereby authorized and empowered to pay Lewis Kelly two hundred fifteen and 17/100 dollars ($215.17) or any part thereof as may seem to them just for damage to his automobile, on the night of April 28, 1923, wherein a bridge across the Prentiss Highway had fallen in, and said opening was negligently left open.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 438.

HOUSE BILL No. 661.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Amite county in their discretion to pay W. S. Ratcliff a sum not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) for the loss of a cow caused by falling through a defective bridge on a public highway of said county.

Amite county may pay W. S. Ratcliff for cow killed on defective bridge.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Amite county, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discre

tion, to pay to W. S. Ratcliff, a sum not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) for the loss of a cow killed in 1923, by falling through a defective bridge on a public highway.

HOUSE BILL No. 375.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Amite county, Mississippi, to pay C. N. Gallent for cattle killed by drinking "kill tick" solution.

Amite county may pay C. N. Gallent for cattle killed in dipping vat.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Amite county, be and it is hereby authorized and empowered in its discretion to pay C. N. Gallent a sum not to exceed one hundred and seventy dollars ($170.00) for the loss of cattle killed in 1923 by drinking "Killtick" solution and not in the process of dipping.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 966.

AN ACT to authorize the board of trustees of the Amite County Agricultural High School to pay E. C. Bates for the loss of a mare killed while being worked on the Agricultural High School Farm.

Amite county may pay E. C. Bates for mare killed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of trustees of the Amite County Agricultural High School be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to pay E. C. Bates, out of the maintenance fund of said school, a sum not to exceed one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) for the loss of a mare killed while at work on the school farm, during the year 1923.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 441.

HOUSE BILL No. 374.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Amite county, Mississippi, to pay L. W. May for a mare killed from being washed in "kill tick" solution.

Amite county may pay L. W. May for mare killed in dipping vat.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Amite county, Mississippi, be and it is hereby authorized and empowered in its discretion to pay to L. W. May a sum not to exceed one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00) for the loss of a mare dying from the effects of being washed in "kill tick" solution in 1923, such washing being done at the direction of the inspector in charge.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

SENATE BILL No. 325.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, to refund to W. W. Cain the county taxes for the year 1920, 1921 and 1922, on an erroneous real assessment.

Attala county may refund taxes to W. W. Cain.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to appropriate a sum of money not to exceed $300.00 or so much thereof as may be proper, to reimburse W. W. Cain, on account of the payment of taxes on erroneous assessment of real property for the years of 1920, 1921 and 1922.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 443.

SENATE BILL No. 247.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Attala county to pay to Simon Eubanks in their discretion a sum not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) as compensation for a horse killed in the process of vaccination for anthrax.

Attala county may pay Simon Eubanks for horse killed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, in its discretion, are hereby authorized to pay to Simon Eubanks, a sum not to exceed one hundred dollars from the common county fund as compensation for horse killed in the process of vaccination for anthrax, in Attala county, Mississippi, on May 13th, 1920, by order of said board of supervisors of said county.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 437.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, in their discretion, to pay W. E. Edwards a sum not exceeding one hundred twenty five dollars ($125.00) for a mule killed in 1924 on the Sallis and Newport road in said county.

Attala county may pay W. E. Edwards for horse killed on public road.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to pay W. E. Edwards a sum not exceeding one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00) for a mule killed on the Sallis and Newport public road in 1924, through the defective condition of said public road.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 445.

HOUSE BILL No. 233.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, to pay, in their discretion, a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1000.00) to J. J. Overstreet, Jr., to compensate him for damages sustained to his automobile on account of defective conditions of the public roads of said county.

Attala county may pay J .J. Overstreet, Jr., for damage to automobile.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, be and the same is hereby authorized in their discretion, to pay to J. J. Overstreet, Jr., a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) as compensation for damages sustained by him to his automobile on account of the defective and dangerous condition of the public roads of said county. Damage occurred in 1922. Sec. 2. That this act be in force and effect from and after its passage.

Approved March 13, 1924.

CHAPTER 446.

HOUSE BILL No. 957.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi to borrow a sum not to exceed twenty thousand dollars for general county expenses other than judiciary expenses for the year 1924, in anticipation of taxes.

Attala county may borrow money for general county purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Attala county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized to borrow a sum of money not to exceed twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) for general county expenses other than judiciary expenses for use during the year 1924, in anticipation of taxes for said year, as now provided by law.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
