CHAPTER 682.

HOUSE BILL No. 714.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Tallahatchie county, Mississippi, and the highway commissioners of district 4 and 5 east of Tallahatchie river in said Tallahatchie county, Mississippi, in their discretion, to transfer and set aside the sum of $13,616.36, or such part thereof as they deem proper from the Phillip-Cowart bridge fund of said county, to a fund to be used and expended in gravelling the public road from Tippo to Swan Lake in said highway district.

Tallahatchie county and highway commissioners of districts 4 and 5 to transfer certain funds.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tallahatchie county, Mississippi, and the highway commissioners of supervisors districts 4 and 5, east of Tallahatchie river in said Tallahatchie county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to transfer and set aside the sum of $13,616.36, or such part thereof as they may deem proper from the Phillip-Cowart bridge fund of said county, to a fund to be used and expended in graveling the public road from Tippo to Swan Lake in said highway district.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 683.

HOUSE BILL No. 851.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Tallahatchie county, the auditor of public accounts of the state and the Yazoo-Mississippi delta levee board to refund to G. M. Houston taxes over paid by him.

Tallahatchie county authorized to refund taxes to G. M. Houston.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tallahatchie county, the auditor of public accounts, of the state, and the board of com

missioners of the Yazoo-Mississippi delta levee district be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to refund to G. M. Houston taxes paid by him for the year 1921, in an over valuation of $10,935.00 in the assessment of all section 16, township 25, north, range 1 east, in said county for said year, which assessment was corrected by reducing the amount thereof $10,935.00 after the taxes had been paid on said over valuation.

Payment to be made on presentation of tax receipt.

Sec. 2. That, upon presentation of the tax-receipt or a certified copy thereof, showing payment of taxes for 1921, on the over valuation of $10,935.00 of said land, the auditor of public accounts is authorized to certify to the county and levee board the amount of taxes to be paid by each respectively, and to refund the amount of state taxes overpaid on said land.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 684.

HOUSE BILL No. 665.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, Mississippi, in their discretion, to transfer from the place of deposit the sum of $710.75 derived by a tax levy on the taxable property in Snowdown Consolidated School District of said county, the year 1922, to the credit of bonded indebtedness of said district incurred in the year 1923 and to use the same for the liquidation of said bonded indebtedness.

Tishomingo county may transfer certain funds of Snowdown Consolidated School District.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to transfer the sum of $710.75 from the present place of depository and place the same to the credit of the Snowdown Consolidated School District of said county, and to use the same for the payment and liquidation of a bonded indebtedness of said school district incurred under the bond issue in the year 1923; said $710.75 having been derived from a tax levy made upon the taxable property of said district by said board of supervisors, in the year 1922.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county to pay Berley South, Silas Marler, Tom Marler, Mrs. Bob Lambert, for cattle killed by drinking dipping solution in Tishomingo county in 1923.

Tishomingo county may pay claims for cattle killed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, Mississippi, be and they are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to pay the following citizens of Tishomingo county the following sums of money for cattle killed in Tishomingo county in the year 1923, by drinking a dipping solution; provided said solution was exposed by an authorized officer.

CHAPTER 686.

HOUSE BILL No. 1045.

AN ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, Mississippi, to pay the Champion Bridge Company, the National Bridge Company and J. C. Jordon for repairing the court house and the Halloran Tractor Company for road machinery for the second supervisors district of said county and to validate the contracts for the above matters which was made by the board of supervisors in 1923.

Tishomingo county may pay miscellaneous claims.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, be and they are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to pay the Champion Bridge Co., on a contract for the building of a bridge across Mackey's Creek in the fifth supervisor's district of Tishomingo county, The National Bridge Co., for the building of a bridge across Yellow Creek in the second supervisor's district of said county, and J. C. Jordan for repairing the court house of Tishomingo county and the Halloran Tractor Co., for road machinery for the second supervisor's district of said county, which was contracted by the board of supervisors in 1923 and at the time said.

contract was made there was not sufficient funds on hand with which to pay said contracts and was in violation of chapter No. 326 of the laws of 1910, and that said contracts so made by the board of supervisors in 1923 be and the same are herby validated. Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 687.

HOUSE BILL No. 1037.

AN ACT authorizing and empowering the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county in their discretion to issue loan warrants and provide for the payment of same so as to enable the Cotton Springs Public School District of said county to rebuild a school house recently destroyed by fire.

Tishomingo county may issue certificates of indebtedness to rebuild Cotton Springs Public School.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tishomingo county, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to issue loan warrants not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) and to bear a rate of interest of not more than six per cent (6%) per annum for the purpose of enabling the Cotton Springs Public School District of said county to build a public school house. The said loan warrants to be the indebtedness of the said Cotton Springs Public School District.

Loan to be re-paid by assessment of property in said district.

Sec. 2. That the loan warrants provided for in section 1 of this act shall be repaid by an assessment of the property of said public school district. Said assessment to be levied by the board of supervisors of said county. The said loan warrants shall not be issued unless a petition praying therefor or asking therefor and signed by a majority of the qualified electors of said school district be filed with the board of supervisors.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of Tunica county, in their discretion, to donate not to exceed five hundred dollars per annum to aid and assist the locally organized chapter of Kings Daughters and Sons in charitable work in said county.

Tunica county may appropriate money for charitable work.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tunica county, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to donate not to exceed five hundred dollars per annum to aid and assist the locally organized chapter of King's Daughters and Sons in charitable work in said county.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 689.

SENATE BILL No. 550.

AN ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Tunica county to refund the Woman's Club of Tunica one hundred dollars ($100.00) paid by said Woman's Club for certain buildings.

Tunica county may refund money to Woman's Club.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the board of supervisors of Tunica county be and are hereby authorized in their discretion to refund to the Woman's Club of Tunica county one hundred ($100.00) dollars paid the county by said Woman's Club for two buildings sold by said board of supervisors to said Woman's Club and removed by said Woman's Club from the court house grounds.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
