Same was on motion received and referred to Committee on Finance. (See Appendix, No. 7.)

Hon. W. F. Ferguson then read the report of Committee on Constitution and Canons.

On motion same was received and Canon adopted. (See Appendix, No. 8.)

The report of Board of Trustees for Legacies and Trusts, was read by Rev. J. P. T. Ingraham, D. D.

Same was on motion, adopted. (See Appendix, No. 9.)

Rev. Mr. Robert then called up the resolution offered by him yesterday in relation to the appointment of a committee to examine into the propriety of securing the incorporation of the Bishop and Standing Committee.

The motion was then voted upon, and same was adopted to read as follows:

"That a committee of five be appointed to consider the propriety of securing the incorporation of the Bishop and Standing Committee of the Diocese of Missouri," empowering them to hold in trust the fee simple of all properties devoted to sacred uses in this Diocese.

Rev. Mr. Jardine offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Committee on Constitution and Canons be requested to consider and hear representations in regard to the propriety of introducing such provisions, constitutional or canonical, as may entitle the organized Missions of the Diocese to the benefit of the pro rata representation in Diocesan Conventions.

On motion, same was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Silas Bent, the rules of order were suspended, and the Hon. John Wickham was duly re-elected Chancellor of the Diocese for the further term of three years.

Rev. F. B. Scheetz, Chairman of the Committee on the Division of the Diocese, made the following report:

Your Committee is unanimously agreed that no division of the Diocese is possible or needed at present, while at the same time it is regarded as certain, that a division must take place before many years. Hence it is suggested that our people give thought

to the subject, especially to some proposed line of division. The Missouri river, from its mouth to that of the Osage, and then this to the western boundary, is proposed as Another is a north and south line, near to the line between ranges 18 and 19.

On motion, same was received and adopted.

Hon. W. F. Ferguson submitted the following report from Committee on Constitution and Canons:

The Committee on Constitution and Canons beg leave to report on the matter referred to them on page 36 of the Journal of 1877, as to a repeal of Canon X, and which was recommended by your committee at the last Convention, beg leave to report the following resolution:

Resolved, That Canon X be repealed.

On motion, same was adopted.

The Rev. P. G. Robert then called up the Canon proposed by him as amendment to Canon IV, making a new section, to be numbered 6. On motion, same was adopted.

Rev. Herman C. Duncan moved that the order of business be suspended so as to enable the Convention to proceed with the business laid down for the third day.

Same was adopted.

The Secretary then read the report of the Layman's Co-operative Missionary Society.

Same was, on motion, received and adopted. (See Appendix 10.) The Treasurer of Missionary Board submitted as his report the Treasurer's Report of Layman's Co-operative Missionary Society, same being identical.

On motion, same was received and adopted. (See Appendix 10.) Hon. W. F. Ferguson then offered the following resolution: Resolved, That in Canon XI, Section 3, ninth line, strike out the word 66 may" and insert "shall," and add to same section after the word "incorporation," "and shall also file a copy of such act of incorporation with the Secretary of State."

On motion, same was received and referred to the Committee on Constitution and Canons, laying over for one day.

On motion, the Rules of Order were suspended, and the following gentlemen were elected as clerical members of the Missionary Board: Rev. George K. Dunlop, Rev. R. A. Holland,

Rev. J. P. T. Ingraham, D. D.

Mr. Samuel B. Gordon offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That Art. VIII of the Constitution be amended by striking out the words "both orders" after the words "majority of," and inserting in place thereof the words "each order."

Same was on motion received, laying over under the Constitution to the next Convention for final action.

The report of Committee on Christian Education was submitted and read by Rev. E. Talbot.

Same was on motion adopted. (See Appendix 11.)

The report of Committee on Assessments was then presented, and read by Mr. M. W. Alexander.

Rev. H. C. Duncan moved as an amendment that the assessment on Grace Church, Kansas City, be made $130. Same was lost.

Vote being taken upon the adoption of the report as presented. Same was adopted. (See Appendix 12.)

Mr. John A. Harrison offered the following additional Canon, to be called Canon No.

"No money made at any entertainment or fair, where there shall have been any raffle, theatrical exhibition or dance, shall be used by any Parish or Church Institution in this Diocese."

On motion same was referred to Committee on Constitution and Canons.

Hon. W. F. Ferguson moved that the rules of order be suspended, and that Mr. Joseph Franklin be elected Treasurer of this Diocese. Same was adopted and Mr. Joseph Franklin was duly elected Treasurer.

On motion of Rev. G. K. Dunlop the rules of order were suspended, and the following Board of Trustees of Theological and Education Fund were elected: Rev. J. P. T. Ingraham, D. D., and Messrs. J. R. Triplett and W. Delafield.

On motion of Rev. G. K. Dunlop the following Board of Trustees of Aged and Infirm Clergy Fund were elected: Rev. B. E. Reed and Messrs. R. M. Wilson and M. W. Alexander.

Committee appointed to look into the propriety of incorporation of Bishop and Standing Committee, asked that further time be given to report to next Convention. Request granted.

Mr. Alexander offered the following resolution :

Resolved, That all matters pertaining to the arrearages in the assessments against the different parishes be referred to the Committee upon Assessments, and that said Committee be authorized to settle the accounts as they in their judgment shall determine.

On motion same was adopted.

Gen. Simpson offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That St. Paul's College, at Palmyra, in this Diocese, and its administration, are eminently worthy of the confidence and patronage of the Church.

On motion same was adopted.

Rev. P G. Robert offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That as Rev. Dr. Wainright was unavoidably detained and unable to reach St. Louis in time to deliver his sermon before this Convention, he be requested to deliver it to-morrow morning at ten o'clock, in Christ Church Chapel.

On motion same was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Charles Miller the following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That the thanks of this Convention are hereby tendered to Mr. John R. Triplett for his services as Secretary, which have been so well performed for some years past.

On motion of Rev. G. K. Dunlop, the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved, That the Treasurer of the Diocese be instructed to pay to the Sexton of Christ Church $10.00 for his services rendered during the session of this Convention.

On motion of Rev. J. P. T. Ingraham, D. D., the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved, That the thanks of this Convention are hereby given to Mr. Joseph Franklin for his valuable services as Treasurer of the Diocese.

On motion of Gen. Simpson, the following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That the thanks of this Convention are hereby tendered to our Chairman, the Rev. Montgomery Schuyler, D. D., for the able and impartial manner in which he has presided over the proceedings of this Convention.

On motion of Rev. R. A. Holland, the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved, That when this Convention adjourns it adjourns to meet in St. Luke's Church, Kansas City.

Mr. Silas Bent submitted and read the report of Committee on Finance.

On motion, same was received and adopted. (See Appendix No. 13.) On motion of Mr. Silas Bent, the Secretary was authorized to have published not to exceed 500 copies of the Journal.

Rev. F. R. Holeman offered the following resolution, which was adopted:

Resolved, That the cordial thanks of this Convention be tendered to the Church people of St. Louis, for their kind hospitality extended to the Clergy and Lay Delegates to this Convention.

The Rev. F. B. Scheetz, chairman of Committee on Missions, asked to be relieved from making a written report, and made only an oral statement concerning Missions, which the Convention accepted instead.

Mr. Chittenden submitted and read the Report of Committee on Missionary Traveling Expenses.

On motion, same was received and adopted. (See Appendix 14.) Rev. J. P. T. Ingraham offered the following resolution, which was, on motion, adopted:

Resolved, That this Convention cannot adjourn without expressing its regrets that the Bishop has not been present. While we feel gratified at the opportunity afforded him of being present at the Conferences of our Mother Church, and his visit to the churches of other lands, we earnestly hope for his safe return in health and strength.

On motion of Gen. Simpson, the following resolution was adopted : Resolved, That after reading the minutes of this day's proceedings, and the usual religious services, the Convention adjourn sine die. Convention adjourned sine die.
