FISCAL YEAR 1988

11.1 Full-time Permanent Positions ($10,094,000)

Regular salaries and wages paid or to be paid to civilian full-time permanent employees and other payments that are part of the employees basic rate of pay.

These funds will be used to fund 226 full-time positions. The increase of $270,000 includes $204,000 for merit pay increases and $66,000 for the annualization of the 1/1/87 COL increase.

11.3 Other Than Full-time Permanent ($193,000)

This category covers positions not designated as full-time permanent and includes part-time, intermittent, and temporary employment.

CBO uses this type of employee for its Panel of Economic Advisors ($5,000), semester and summer intern programs ($178,000), and miscellaneous intermittent consultants ($10,000).

12.1 Personnel Benefits ($2,203,000)

These funds will be used to cover CBO's share of the costs of employee health and life insurance, retirement, Federal Insurance Contribution Act taxes, and accident compensation (e.g. worker's compensation).

13.0 Benefits for Former Personnel ($7,000)

These funds will be used for unemployment compensation.

21.0 Travel and Transportation of Persons ($80,000)

These funds will be used to cover the travel costs for full-time staff, the CBO Panel of Economic Advisors, and other intermittent consultants.

23.2 Communications, Utilities and Miscellaneous Charges ($277,000)

This category covers the cost of mail service ($165,000),
telephone service ($80,000), copier and terminal leasing
($30,000), and misc. leasing ($2,000).

24.0 Printing and Reproduction ($413,000)

25.0 Other Services ($4,435,000)

This category includes charges for contractual services not otherwise classifed. These funds will pay for commercial ADP timesharing services ($582,000), interagency ADP timesharing ($2,951,000), other interagency agreements ($90,000), systems, data and model development contracts ($400,000), miscellaneous services ($382,000), and training ($30,000).

Changes from FY 1987 estimates are: commercial ADP (-$23,000), interagency ADP (-$271,000), interagency agreements ($3,000), systems, data and model development (-$46,000), aiscellaneous services ($40,000), and training ($3,000).

26.0 Supplies and Materials ($376,000)

Funds in this category will pay for office supplies ($100,000) subscriptions ($76,000), and ADP software ($200,000).

31.0 Equipment ($910,000)

This category includes charges for property having a period of service of more than a year. These funds are for books and microfilm for the permanent collection of the CBO library ($26,000), typewriters, word processing equipment and calculators ($63,000), the purchase of new telecommunications equipment ($349,000), and personal computers and peripheral equipment ($604,000).
