her membership, while others have at least retained their full quota. The many obstacles adverse to the vitality of Councils of Royal and Select Masters have been resisted to such a degree by the zeal and energy of those Companions who appreciate the Council Degrees, that the future presents many encouraging indications for the stability of Cryptic Masonry in Maryland.

In respect to the formation of a General Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters for the United States, and in accordance with the suggestion of the M.. I.. Grand Master, your Committee recommend the adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Maryland hereby approves of the formation of a General Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of the United States, and formally ratifies the Provisional Constitution adopted by the Convention of Royal and Select Masters held at Detroit, Michigan, August 25th, 1880.

In respect to the interchange of Grand Representatives, your Committee recommend the adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, That the interchange of Grand Representatives between the Grand Councils of Michigan, New Hampshire, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maine, Kansas, Alabama, Massachusetts, Missouri, Vermont, Georgia, England and Ontario, and this Grand Council is cordially approved, and official recognition is hereby accorded the Representatives of the above Grand Councils near the Grand Council of Maryland.

In the opinion of your Committee, the very appropriate words of the M.. I.. Grand Master relating to the character of our lamented Grand Principal Conductor of the Work elect, Companion HENRY WILSON WORTHINGTON, render more profound the respect in which his memory is cherished by this Grand Council. Our late Companion WORTHINGTON, although comparatively young in years, had attained to such prominence among his Brethren and Companions, and his life had presented such a bright record as a man, a friend and a citizen, that the news of his untimely death brought sorrow to many hearts wherein he was appreciated for his sterling worth.

Of a quiet and unassuming nature, Companion WORTHINGTON nevertheless possessed an indomitable energy which was felt in his Lodge, Chapter and Council to such a degree that it stimulated those with whom he was associated, and contributed greatly to the prosperity of the different bodies with which he was connected.

And while his death can be regarded as no common loss, and he is at rest from his labors, yet his works will follow him, and his many virtues will be cherished by his friends, Brothers and Companions as being worthy of imitation.

Your Committee would therefore recommend the adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, That a memorial page of the printed Proceedings of this Grand Council be dedicated to the memory of our late G.. P.. C.. of the Work elect, Companion HENRY WILSON WORTHINGTON, as an evidence of respect and appreciation for the zeal and energy he displayed in advancing the interests of Cryptic Masonry.

Respectfully submitted,

F. J. S. GORGAS,
H. J. KENAH,
JAS. W. BOWERS.
