The V32 SRB Refurbishment and Subassembly Station Set encompasses the
mechanical, electrical, fluid, and supporting major components nec-
essary to store, assemble, service, and checkout the Solid Rocket
Boosters. The existing MOL RIS building located on SVAFB near SLC-6
will be modified and enlarged to accommodate the operating configura-
tion of the station set. A small explosives building for temporary
storage of pyrotechnics and a rail and access road system also will
be provided. New and refurbished solid rocket motor segments and new
SRB components are received from their vendors. Retrieved SRB compo-
nents are received from the V32 SRB Disassembly and the V30 Parachute
Refurbishment Station Sets. Components are stored, assembled, checked
out and delivered to the launch pad for SSV integration. Primary
operational functions in this station set are receiving, inspection,
dimensional checks, segment buildup, checkout and insulation/painting.
