Baseline documentation representing the allocated requirements baseline for V27 is presented in Table 2.7.3. 2.8 2.8.1 Open issues pertaining to the Flight Crew Systems Station Set (V27) are listed below. Resolution of these issues is planned during the integration contract. a. Memorandum of agreement between JSC/NASA and Space Transportation System Program Office, SAMSO, USAF, on Flight Crew Equipment Handling currently in coordination for final signature. b. "Health Stabilization Plan" currently in existence is primarily addressed to KSC operations and VAFB sections in plan are TBD. c. Continued identification of support equipment requirements since major emphasis is currently involved in support for first six flights. Station Set V28, Launch Control Center Current Baseline The Launch Control Center (LCC) is the activity center where the SSV elements (Orbiter, ET and SRB) support equipment and facilities are controlled and monitored to perform the final checkout and launch of each SSV. The LCC also provides the control center for checkout operations of the ET in V33 and the SRB in V31. The LCC will house the SVAFB portion of the VLPS, communications and tracking checkout equipment, the SVAFB ground communications equipment, and payload control equipment. The LCC is essentially an existing two-story reinforced concrete structure, located approximately 1,250 feet from the launch mount. |
