of cargo hold ventilators when inflammable cargo is stowed in the hold. Such sign shall be painted on a white background using a bright red color for lettering. The letters shall not be less than 3 inches high.

§ 146.21-57 Use of power-operated industrial trucks in spaces containing flammable liquids.

(a) In a space in which packaged flammable liquids are stowed, only approved power-operated industrial trucks with a recognized testing laboratory designation of EX, EE, GS, LPS, and DS (see § 146.09-15) may be used for handling cargo including the handling of such packaged flammable liquids.

Potable spirits packed in strong, tight barrels, drums, casks, wooden or fiberboard boxes may, when stowed in a compartment not subject to artificial heat, be transported on board any vessel without further restriction.

§ 146.21-65 Limited quantity ship

ments.

(a) Inflammable liquids, except those enumerated in paragraph (c) of this section, in inside metal containers not over 1 quart capacity each, or in inside containers not over 1 pint or 16 ounces by weight each, packed in strong outside containers, except as otherwise provided, are exempt from specification packaging, marking other than name of contents, and labeling requirements.

(b) Such limited quantity shipments may be accepted on board vessels subject to the regulations in this part, provided the bill of lading or other shipping paper correctly describes the article and the required marking on the outside container is in accordance with the true name in the commodity list. Stowage shall be "On deck under cover" or "Tween decks" in a compartment not subject to artificial heat.

(c) The following articles in any quantity are not exempt from any of the regulations in this subpart:

(1) Acrolein.

(2) Acrolein, inhibited.

(3) Aliphatic mercaptan mixtures.

(26) Peroxides, organic, liquids or solutions, N.O.S.

(27) Propyl mercaptan.

(28) Pyroforic fuel and mixtures or solutions thereof.

(28a) Pyroforic solutions.

(29) Spirits of nitroglycerin in excess of one percent by weight.

(30) Trichlorosilane.

(31) Trimethylchlorosilane.

(32) Dimethylhydrazine, unsymmetrical.
(33) Vinyl trichlorosilane.
(34) Zinc ethyl.

(35) Zirconium, metallic, solutions or mixtures thereof.

(36) Methyl magnesium bromide in ethyl ether in concentrations not over 40 percent. (37) Triisobutyl aluminum and mixtures and solutions thereof.

(38) Ethyl aluminum sesquichloride and mixtures and solutions thereof.

(39) Diethyl aluminum chloride and mixtures and solutions thereof.

(40) Ethyl aluminum dichloride and mixtures and solutions thereof.

(41) Methyl aluminum sesquichloride and mixtures and solutions thereof.

(42) Methyl aluminum sesquibromide and mixtures or solutions thereof.
