1 came unto Abram in a Vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy SHIELD, and thy exceeding great ReFARD.

2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go CHILDLESS, and the Steward of my House is this Eliezer of Damascus ?

3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given No SEED : and lo, one born in my House is mine Heir.

And behold, the Word of the Lord came unto him, laying, This shall not be thine Heir, but he that shall come forth out of thine own Bowels shall be thine Heir.. : 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward Heaven, and tell the STARS, if thou be able to NUMBER them; and he said unto him, so shall thy SEED

Gal. iii. 6 Even as Abraham BELIEVED God, and it was accounted to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

7 Know ye therefore, that they which are of Faith, the same are the CHILDREN of Abraham.

8 And the Scripture foreseeing that God would justify the HEATHEN through FAITH, preached before the Gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all Nations be BLESSED.

9 So then they shich be of FAITH, are BLESSED with faithful Araham,

13 CHRIST hach redeemed us from the Curse of the Law, being made a Curse for us : for it is written, Curled is every one that hangeth on a Tree :

14 That the BLESSING of Abraham might come on the GENTILES through JESUS CHRIST ; that we might receive the PROMISE of the SPIRIT through FAITH.

19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

C H A P. XVI. i Sarai, being barren, giveth Hagar to Abram. 6 Hagar,

being afflicted for despising her Mistress, runneth away : 9 An Angel sendeth her back to submit herself, 11 and telleth ber of her Child. 15 Ishmael is born.

8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's Maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I fee from the Face of my Mistress Sarai.

9 And the Angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy Mistress, and submit thy self under her Hands.

10 And the Angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy Seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbred for multitude.

11 And the Angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with Child, and shalt bear a Son, and shalt call his Name Ishmael ; because the LORD hath heard thy Affiction.

12 m And he will be a m Gen. xxv. 18 And limael died wild Man ; his Hand will be in the Presence of all his Brethren. against every Man, and every Man's Hand against-him; and he shall dwell in the Presence of all his Brethren.

13 And she called the Name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God feest me : for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?

14 Wherefore the Well was called Beer-lahairoi.

15 And Hagar bare Abram a Son: and Abram called his Son's Name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.

16 And Abram was fourscore and six Years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.

C H A P. XVII. i God reneweth the Covenant. 5 Abram's Name is changed,

in Token of a greater Blesing. 10 Circumcision is instituted. 15 Sarai's Name is changed, and she blesséd. 16 Ifaac is promised, 23 Abraham and Ishmael are circumcised.
