ON Wednesday the eighth of June, 1814, a Letter from The Right Honourable the Lord Grenville, Chancellor of the University, to the Rev. Dr. Lee, President of Trinity College, and acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, was laid before a special meeting of the Board of Heads of Houses and Proctors, in which was inclosed an official notification from The Right Honourable The Lord Viscount Sidmouth, one of his Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, apprizing his Lordship that it was the intention of His Royal Highness the Prince Regent to honour the University with a visit in the middle of the following week, accompanied by His Majesty's Allies, the Emperor of Russia and the King of Prussia :—that the Prince Regent would reside in the house of the Dean of Christ Church during the period of His Royal Highness's stay at Oxford; and that His Royal Highness had commanded his wishes to be signified to the Warden of Merton, and the President of Corpus Christi Colleges, that the house of the former should be prepared for the reception of the Emperor of Russia, and that of the latter for the reception of the King of Prussia.

Theatre' and the Radcliffe Librarian, in preparing the Theatre and Library for the reception and entertainment of the illustrious Visitors.

At a meeting of the Vice-Chancellor, Heads of Houses, and Proctors, June 11, 1814, it was agreed that a dutiful and loyal Address should be proposed to Convocation to be presented to His Royal Highness the Prince Regent on his arrival in the University; and, on the Monday following, it was passed and sealed in Convocation. It was also agreed at the same meeting that the Degree of Doctor in Civil Law by Diploma should be proposed to Convocation to be conferred on their Imperial and Royal Majesties the Emperor of Russia and the King of Prussia. Minutes of the ceremonial to be observed on the reception and during the stay of the Prince Regent and the Allied Sovereigns were ordered to be prepared; and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor was requested to transmit the same to the Chancellor of the University, in order that, if approved by his Lordship, they might be humbly submitted to His Royal Highness the Prince Regent.
