BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the fourteenth day of November, A. D. 1837, and in the sixty-second year of the Independence of the United States of America, Mr. EDMUND PRAY, of the said District, has deposited in this office, the title of a Book, the title of which is in the words following, to wit:

'A Discourse on the Second Death. "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.".... Rev. xx: 14. By Edmund Pray.'

The right whereof he claims as author, in conformity with an act of Congress, entitled An act to amend the several acts respecting Copy Rights.'

THIS was prepared amid the cares of the world and the toils of business, and with but slender means. It therefore does not come

to you with any claims to learning or science. It is merely the result of a study of the Scriptures for many years, unaided by the labors of the learned. It is not, consequently, sent forth to enlighten the learned; but with the hope that it may aid others in like station with the author, in their search after truth. INTRODUCTION.

"And Death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.'-Rev. xx: 14.

THE second death is generally supposed to be something that is still to take place, in the world of spirits. At that time, it is imagined, all who are so unhappy as not to have a part in the "first resurrection,' or whose names are not 'written in the Lamb's book of life,'
