10 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION

Reinforced concrete footings and floor slab, masonry walls, structural stee frame and roof system with gravel built-up roof. Utilities and necessary support. Includes bays for lubrication, inspection, general repair and replacement of major assemblies; painting, welding, upholstery, testing, cleaning, and minor parts fabrication. Also includes open storage. II. REQUIREMENT: 50,510 SF ADEQUATE: 40,510 SF SUBSTANDARD: 10,540 SF PROJECT: Construct a vehicle maintenance shop and vehicle fueling station to accommodate all base assigned vehicles.

REQUIREMENT: A facility of adequate size is required to maintain and service 647 vehicles plus 59 other pieces of motorized equipment. Covered service facilities must be provided for lubrication, inspection, general repair, replacement of major assemblies, testing and cleaning so that the equipment remains operational to support the base mission. A vehicle fueling station is required to service the assigned government owned vehicles.

CURRENT SITUATION: This function is now accommodated in a facility which is substandard due to space limitations and layout. It is extremely difficult and time consuming to maneuver large, special purpose vehicles into service bays. Maintenance of some large cargo loading/off-loading vehicles is presently performed outside due to the space limitations which do not permit their entry into the facility. The existing fuel station does not have diesel fuel capability .

IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Inefficient operations will continue in substandard facilities with some of the work being done outside.
