10 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION

[ocr errors]

Reinforced concrete footings and floor slab, structural steel frame,
masonry walls, steel joists with gravel built-up roof, special air con-
ditioning for environmental control, raised computer flooring, fire protec-
tion systems, utilities and necessary support. Includes computer and
remote terminal rooms, tape library, supply, storage, maintenance and
administrative areas

Air Conditioning - 30 Tons
11. REQUIREMENT: 8,080 SF ADEQUATE: 0 SUBSTANDARD: 4,160 SF
PROJECT: Construction of a new data processing facility.
REQUIREMENT: A properly sized and configured facility is required to

house the new Phase IV computer. The Phase IV computer acquisition
program affects every USAF installation and represents a $50 million

annual savings Air Force-wide by replacing obsolete Burroughs
3500/3700/4700 and Univac 1050-11 computers. It is necessary to support
essential weapon system maintenance and supply activities, and permit more
effective management of personnel, financial, engineering, and equipment
resources at base level. The computer system is scheduled for delivery
in May 1984.
CURRENT SITUATION: The two existing computers to be replaced by the Phase
IV computer are located in two separate facilities. The current physical
limitation of these facilities will not permit installation of the new
Phase IV computer. There is no other facility available that meets the
required space criteria. Construction of a new facility is necessary to
adequately accommodate the new computer equipment and associated support
functions.
IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: We will have no place to house the expensive new
Computers now on order.

10 DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION Reinforced concrete footings, foundation and floor slab, pre-engineered metal building complete, fire protection systems, utilities and necessary support. Includes weapon release bays, radar calibration, shop, training, storage, administrative and mechanical space. Air Conditioning - 20 Tons 11. REQUIREMENT: 21 Spaces ADEQUATE: 17 SUBSTANDARD: O PROJECT: Construct a four bay small aircraft maintenance dock for assigned F-45. REQUIREMENT: Covered space is required to perform maintenance, adjustments, inspections, repairs, and modifications on 72 F4 aircraft. Adequate space must be available to permit scheduled accomplishment of these activities in an environment not subject to the elements (rains, heat, dust, etc.). CURRENT SITUATION: There are currently seventeen covered spaces at Moody to support 72 F45. The lack of adequate covered spaces forces personnel to perform maintenance on sophisticated technical weapon systems on the ramp. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Aircraft maintenance will be performed on parking aprons without adequate utility support, protection from the elements, or working environment for critical maintenance tasks.
