Reinforced concrete footings, foundation and floor slab, pre-engineered
metal building complete, fire protection systems, utilities and necessary
support. Includes weapon release bays, radar calibration, shop, training,
storage, administrative and mechanical space.
11. REQUIREMENT: 22 spaces ADEQUATE: 18 spaces SUBSTANDARD: O
PROJECT: Provides four A-10 aircraft spaces and the associated main-
tenance area.
REQUIREMENT: Covered space is required for 22 A-10 aircraft for mainte-
nance, adjustments, inspections, repairs, and modifications in accordance
with technical orders. Covered spaces are required to permit maintenance
to be accomplished in an environment not subject to the elements (rain,
heat, dust, blowing sand, etc.).
CURRENT SITUATION: The conversion from A-7 aircraft to the larger A-10
aircraft resulted in a shortfall of available maintenance docks. Docks
which accommodated three or four A-7's with folded wings now provide space
for only two to three A-10's.
IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Sophisticated weapon systems will be maintained
in substandard conditions on the open ramp subject to climatic variations
compromising system reliability and safety.

10. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
New wells and deepen existing wells. Elevated storage tank and water
distribution system including all utilities and necessary support.
11. REQUIREMENT: 5,200 KG/DAY ADEQUATE: 2,800 KG/DAY
SUBSTANDARD: 2,000 KG/DAY
PROJECT: Provides for construction of three additional wells with an ele-
vated storage tank and interconnecting distribution mains.
REQUIREMENT: Adequate quality water at sufficient pressure is required to
support domestic and industrial consumption, and fire protection.
CURRENT SITUATION: Rapidly falling water tables will be below pump levels
within the next two years. Since the pumps are set at the lowest possible
Level, deepening is necessary. The water pressure is so low in the
Military Aircraft Storage and Distribution Center area of the base that it
will not operate automatic sprinkler systems, leaving the warehouses and
their valuable contents unprotected.
IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Fire protection deficiencies will increase as the
static water pressure drops. The reduced level of fire protection will
increase the chances of fire loss. The decreased water supply will also
make it necessary to implement severe water conservation measures.

This will impact mission accomplishment and quality of life at Davis-Monthan.
