ON BASE REQUIREMENT: 2,084 PN ADEQUATE: 605 PN SUBSTANDARD: 452 PN PROJECT: Construct five new unaccompanied enlisted housing facilities. REQUIREMENT: A major Air Force objective is to provide unaccompanied enlisted personnel with housing that will be conducive to their proper rest, relaxation and personal well being. Properly designed and furnished quarters which provide some degree of individual privacy are essential to the successful accomplishment of the increasingly complicated and important jobs these personnel must perform. The lack of such quarters is an irritant to these personnel and a known contributor to low re-enlistment rates. The Air Force should remove this irritant to maintain an effective force of experienced airmen. CURRENT SITUATION: There are currently not enough facilities to accommodate the on base requirement. This project is phase one of a two phase program which will eventually provide upgraded quarters to meet the full programming need for the base. When this project is completed, 58% of that goal will be reached. IMPACT IF NOT FUNDED: Substandard living conditions will persist at the base and the morale, productivity and career satisfaction of the enlisted force will continue to be degraded. MAY B. REQUIREMENT: As Required PROJECT: Install automatic fire suppression systems in two aircraft hangars. REQUIREMENT: Installation of fire suppression systems is required to comply with National Fire Protection Association codes standards. The systems provide for the automatic suppression of fire throughout the buildings. CURRENT SITUATION: These two hangars currently lack adequate fire suppression coverage. While new construction is meeting fire protection standards, existing facilities which have fire protection deficiencies must be brought up to standards. Delay in early suppression of a fire could result in injuries, loss of life and destruction of valuable Air Force resources. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Personnel and valuable resources would continue to be exposed to the dangers of fire. PREVIOUS EDITIONS MAY BE USED INTERNALLY |
