Includes bedrooms, baths, closets, lounges, centralized storage, laundry, and support space. Grade Mix: 108 E1-E4. II. REQUIREMENT: 170 PN ADEQUATE: 0 SUBSTANDARD: 112 Navy PROJECT: Construction of a new unaccompanied enlisted housing facility to replace substandard facility and leased facilities. REQUIREMENT: A major Air Force objective is to provide unaccompanied enlisted personnel with housing that will be conducive to their proper rest, relaxation and personal well being. Individual privacy is essential to the successful accomplishment of the increasingly complicated and important jobs these personnel must perform. The lack of such quarters is an irritant to these personnel and a known contributor to low reenlistment rates. CURRENT SITUATION: No quarters of any kind exist at Sunnyvale Air Force Station. Quarters for unaccompanied airmen (E-1 through E-4) are now provided through lease of family-type civilian housing (89 pn) and in substandard Navy facilities at Moffett Field (23 pn). The leased units are very uneconomical and the substandard Navy units are scheduled for conversion. This project is phase one of a two phase program which will eventually provide adequate quarters to meet the full programming need of the base. When this project is completed, 64% of that goal will be reached. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Substandard living conditions will persist and the morale, productivity and career satisfaction of the enlisted force will continue to be degraded. |
