Air Conditioning: 15 Tons. 11. REQUIREMENT: 11,000 ADEQUATE: 0 SUBSTANDARD: 0 PROJECT: Conversion of an existing aircraft maintenance facility. REQUIREMENT: An aircraft fuel system maintenance facility is required to permit effective inspection, maintenance and repair of all components of the aircraft fuel systems. The facility must be properly sized and equipped with explosion-proof fixtures, fuel vapor level warning devices, adequate ventilation systems and washdown drainage trenches for safe aircraft fuel systems maintenance. The fuel system maintenance facility is required to support the assigned AFRES A-10 aircraft. CURRENT SITUATION: Currently fuel system maintenance and repair functions are being performed on the open ramp. High value aircraft are exposed to uncontrolled environmental conditions while being worked on the ramp and also are unprotected against fire hazards. An existing aircraft maintenance hangar has been made available by the host for AFRES use; however, it is inadequate to support the fuel system maintenance function. Extensive alterations are required to bring the facility up to minimum standards prior to its being used for fuel system work. The construction of a completely new facility was considered but this conversion permitted the avoidance of considerable cost. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: continue to exist.
