REQUIREMENT: 210,200 BL ADEQUATE: 50,200 BL PROJECT: Construction of two new jet fuel storage tanks. REQUIREMENT: Additional jet fuel storage is required to satisfy the prepositioned war reserve materials (WRM) requirements at this base. CURRENT SITUATION: Current jet fuel storage is inadequate for present and future needs. Nearly all of the prepositioned WRM fuel requirement is located off base in terminals up to 350 miles away. Robins supports sorties for bomber (B52) and tanker (KC-135) aircraft in contingencies or wartime scenarios. Fuel will have to be trucked to Robins and due to limited dispensing or outloading capability and distance, resupply in a timely manner will not be possible. With a large portion of Robins on-base WRM fuel supply used up in the early hours of any hostilities, required followon sorties cannot be generated. There have been several occasions that support of priority aircraft was seriously jeopardized due to interruptions in fuel delivery and depletion of on-base stock levels. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: Failure to provide this project will seriously affect our capability to support mission requirements and could result in cancellation or relocation of vital aircraft missions.
