11. REQUIREMENT: 143,900 SF ADEQUATE : 0 SUBSTANDARD: 67,380 SF PROJECT: A facility for engineering and logistics support of computers used in various weapons systems to replace substandard and inadequately sized facilities.

REQUIREMENTS: Computers are essential elements of aircraft electronic systems. Th computer and the electronic system of which it is a part must be thoroughly tested and operated as an integrated unit to determine changes or adjustments that must be made to the computer and computer software. This facility is essential for engineering and maintenance for computers used in Aircraft Avionics and Communications ElectronicsMeteorological (CEM) systems. It is required for systems integration, engineering analysis and development, operational software analysis and development, and depot/field Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) engineering analysis and development including software and a quick reaction capability for ground electronic warfare systems.

CURRENT SITUATION: The current ATE workload is located in four buildings which makes it very difficult to coordinate a smooth work flow. The ATE computer space is limited with no room for expansion for future workloads. The main facility is a warehouse converted for use to house computers and equipment for weapons systems. The development and acquisitions of these DD1 DEC 76 1391

systems are expanding at a greater rate than the current facilities can accommodate. The existing facilities lack adequate air-conditioning, intrusion detection alarm system, sound attenuation, lighting, warehouse space, electrical power, classified data storage and air filtration system.

IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: This vital work on computers used in mission essential weapons systems will continue to be performed in substandard and inadequately sized facilities.
