DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION A military equipment maintenance shop with concrete floor, tilt-up reinforced concrete walls, metal panels and built-up roofing. Walls and ceiling insulated for latest energy conservation criteria. Functional areas include four work bays, administrative storage, tool, battery flammable storage and mechanical/custodial rooms, a commo/elect repair shop, a latrine and a small arms repair shop with vault. Air Conditioning: 0 tons. 11. REQUIREMENT: 6,192 SF Adequate: 0 SF Substandard: 6,570 SF PROJECT: Construction of a new vehicle and equipment maintenance shop with supporting MEP and POV parking areas. REQUIREMENT: This project is required to maintain unit vehicles from other locations which cannot be repaired and maintained at home stations. CURRENT SITUATION: The AMSA personnel are now maintaining equipment in a leased building which lacks a battery room, waste oil disposal tank, flammable storage area warehouse, locker and break areas, arms vault and commo/elect shop. The facility has been cited for safety and health. deficiencies, is deficient in insulation, heat and lighting and lacks exhaust ventilation for carbon monoxide. The building configuration provides only one vehicle access door which decreases working space and reduces efficiency. The amount of MEP is inadequate. IMPACT IF NOT PROVIDED: The leased building will be vacated since the lessor cannot correct all deficiencies and AMSA personnel will perform maintenance at a reduced frequency by traveling to USARCs. Loss of productive time due to travel and the lack of adequate maintenance buildings will further aggrevate the already unsatisfactory situation.
